Sandustry fluxite

Sandustry Fluxite is the upgrade currency. The official beginner page is blunt: Fluxite unlocks upgrades for inventory items such as the Grabber, Flamethrower, and Drones. You can find it naturally or grow it. Growing it is the Flux Emanator loop that starts with flowers. Official store copy, the Hooded Horse wiki roster, and Steam patch notes are the only sources for numbers on this page. Community names stay in the alias column.

Find versus grow

Natural Fluxite veins exist. Treat them as a bootstrap, not a factory. The manufactured path is botanical. Watered seeds become flowers. Flowers drop Amethelis. Amethelis mixed with Redsand moves toward Voidbloom. The Flux Emanator consumes Voidbloom and grows Fluxite under its tile. Community factories keep a single Emanator.

What to buy first

Official beginner advice: raise Grabber capacity first so you can move larger chunks by hand. That upgrade still matters after belts exist because jams are manual. Flamethrower upgrades come next if vault ice or Residue burn is the bottleneck. Drone upgrades wait until Digger and Hauler are actually placed.

Demo Hotfix 8’s Hydro Sponge Grabber upgrade only works above ground. Do not design an underground sponge. The official Upgrades page is still a redlink, so this guide will not invent a full upgrade tree or fake Fluxite prices.

Do not confuse Fluxite with Energy

Amethelis also sits on a separate official energy chain: Amethelis to Dry Amethelis to Florin to Florinol to batteries. That chain is about Energy, not Fluxite. Florinol Battery and Energy Connector were still redlinks on 15 August 2026. If a machine asks for Fluxite, feed Fluxite. If a machine asks for Energy, you are on the other wallet.

The campaign ratio is not a belt clock

Official beginner Input/Output Ratios say the overall mix is roughly 2 sand : 3 water : 4 redsand for about 3 gold : 8 Fluxite. That sentence lives on the official beginner page, so it is fair to publish. It is a planet-scale mix, not a claim that four Redsand pixels always become two Fluxite on the next tick.

Use it as a shortage detector. If you have Gold and no Fluxite, you are short Redsand or petals. If you have petals and no Fluxite, the Emanator is missing or starved of Voidbloom. If you have Fluxite and a tiny Grabber, you are hoarding the wrong wallet. Spend.

Natural veins buy the first upgrade. Flowers buy the rest. Do not strip-mine a vein with rockets after Hotfix 8 and call it a Fluxite factory. That is a crater.

More detail worth keeping

Fluxite is how the game lets you keep the same tool instead of buying a new research node every time you are annoyed. That is why the official beginner page talks about Grabber capacity before it talks about fancy weapons. A larger Grabber fixes jams the first belt cannot see. A hotter Flamethrower fixes ice the first research tier cannot. Drone upgrades fix pathing you already built. If you buy those upgrades before the item exists, you wasted a vein. If you sit on Fluxite because you are waiting for a complete official upgrade list, you wasted a vein the other way. Spend on the pain you can point at with a cursor.

Practice that survives a patch

Petals despawn in your head faster than they despawn in the world. Chest them. Amethelis sitting on a belt next to fire is how you invent a shortage. Redsand should arrive as a metered trickle, not as a dune you collapsed onto the Emanator. The machine grows Fluxite under one tile. Burying that tile in mixed red junk is how community factories swear the Emanator is broken.

Close the loop

Keep a visible Fluxite jar next to the Grabber upgrade screen in your mind. If the jar is full and the Grabber still lifts sad little crumbs, you are collecting a trophy. Spend.

Voidbloom is a dedicated feed, not a compost pile. If Amethelis, Redsand, and dirt share the Emanator tile, you have built a garden on your mint. Clear the tile. Then feed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I skip flowers and just mine Fluxite?

You can bootstrap from veins. A factory that needs constant upgrades wants the Emanator loop.

How many Flux Emanators should I build?

Community lines run one. No official multi-emanator bonus is published.

Does Fluxite buy the Shaker?

No. The Shaker costs 20 Gold on the official research tree.
